Leaps & Turns
This is a specialized class focused on building strength, increasing flexibilty, and improving specific technique for leaps, turns, and more.
Safe and effective progressions will be taught in five divisions of AcroDance: Flexibility, Strength, Balancing, Limbering and Tumbling. Developed with input from professionals and experts in ballet, modern dance, jazz, contortion, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, sport acrobatics, yoga, acro yoga, pilates, physiotherapy, hand balancing and more, you will not find a more comprehensive program. Simple thoughtful progressions take the beginner preschool level dancer from log rolls and summersaults to the advanced dancer tumbling effortlessly across the stage!
Ballet is the foundation of all other dance styles. The French and Russian styles will be taught beginning with exercises at the barre and continue with center and across the floor combinations. Ballet vocabulary and proper technique will be emphasized and level of complexity will coincide with class level. Students are encouraged to attend class twice a week, especially in levels B and C to improve technique and further one’s growth.
Ballet C with Pointe
This class requires solid technique and understanding of the art of ballet. Students must be enrolled in ballet twice a week and obtain permission of the director.
Learn the history and technique behind the formation of Modern dance. Modern technique will be taught influenced by the styles of Martha Graham and Isadora Duncan. From angular movements and flexed feet to ebb and flow movements that tell a story, students will learn the importance of arching and contracting and use of emotion in dance. Students must be enrolled in a jazz or ballet class to enroll in Modern/Contemporary.
Are you interested in tap dancing like Fred Astaire or Savion Glover? In this class students will learn to use balance, counting, and timing to dance with clarity and crispness as they dance in unison with the class. Center warm-up and across the floor exercises will be practiced in both Broadway and Rhythm tap styles.
Have you ever wanted to dance like a Broadway star or wondered how to move like dancers on MTV or So You Think You Can Dance? Learn the Broadway Jazz style influenced by Bob Fosse and musicals like West Side Story and Footloose and move like dancers seen in Lady Gaga and Beyoncé videos. Center and across the floor technique and exercises will be taught including body isolations, kicks, leaps, jumps, and turns as well as developing personal style.
