Discover Dance 1 - Ages 3-4.5 Discover the magic of imaginative play with live singing, structured explorations, and skill development. Our DiscoverDance 1 classes offer an outlet for creative expression, physical growth, and social interaction. Children will explore the essence of movement that will lead to the

discovery of multiple styles of dance.

Jazz/Hip-Hop – Have you ever wanted to dance like a Broadway star or wondered how to move like dancers on MTV or So You Think You Can Dance? Learn the Broadway Jazz style influenced by Bob Fosse and musicals like West Side Story and Footloose and move like dancers seen in Lady Gaga and Beyoncé videos. Center and across the floor technique and exercises will be taught including body isolations, kicks, leaps, jumps, and turns as well as developing personal style.

Modern/Contemporary – Learn the history and technique behind the formation of Modern dance.  Modern technique will be taught influenced by the styles of Martha Graham and Isadora Duncan. From angular movements and flexed feet to ebb and flow movements that tell a story, students will learn the importance of arching and contracting and use of emotion in dance.  Students must be enrolled in a jazz or ballet class to enroll in Modern/Contemporary.

Pointe – This class requires solid technique and understanding of the art of ballet.  Students must be enrolled in ballet twice a week and obtain permission of the director.

Tap - Are you interested in tap dancing like Fred Astaire or Savion Glover? In this class students will learn to use balance, counting, and timing to dance with clarity and crispness as they dance in unison with the class.  Center warm-up and across the floor exercises will be practiced in both Broadway and Rhythm tap styles.

Triple Threat - A combination of Tap, Ballet, and Jazz for Ages 5-6.  See separate Tap, Ballet, and Jazz class descriptions.
